Mahmoud Shammam is a Libyan politician and journalist. He acted as Minister of Information and Spokesperson for the Libyan National Transitional Council. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Alwasat Media Group.

 

Previously, he was Editor-in-Chief of 'Foreign Policy' in Arabic, director of 'Sout Al Kuwait' newspaper, as well as Washington manager of the Doha-based newspaper 'Al-Watan'. He also acted as Executive Vice President of the Hot Source Media Company and a member of the Administrative Board of the Aljazeera Network. He was also editor-in-chief of the Arabic edition of 'Newsweek' as well as a member of the Middle East Center of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.Mahmoud Shammam lived in the USA for 34 years. he belonged to the exile opposition to Muammar al-Gaddafi.
