Azza Boghandora
Professor Azza Boghandora is currently Manager of the Language Centre as well as a Faculty member of the Sociology Department, Faculty of Arts of the University of Omar Al-Mukhtar in El Beida/Libya.
She obtained a Master’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado, and a Ph.D. in the same field from the University of Khartoum, Sudan.
She served for five years as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Omar Al-Mukhtar, where she was the Chairman of the Department of Sociology until 2001. She has also been a Lecturer in a number of Libyan universities, including in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts of University of Omar Al-Mukhtar. In the past, she also worked as a Social researcher at the School of Ibn Khaldun primary School for Girls of El Beida and as a social worker in a psychiatric clinic from 1978 – 1979.
Azza Boghandora is also a founding member of the Association of Libyan Arab Family, of the Human Rights Society of El Beida City and of the association of Colleges of Arts Member States of the Arab League. She was also a member of the Libyan Red Crescent Society in El Beida City, Libya.
She also has several published researches on political participation of women, human rights and national reconciliation in Libya.
